"Who would've thought that I am going to work side by side with darkness..." Lirian thought with disappointment. He did not like wars and hated his role in the plan, but that is what he had to do. He really wanted to help. Help to overthrow the current mage's council and restore the balance. Of course that is not what Prince is fighting for, but it does not matter as long as corruption will be eliminated from all mage's guilds across the country.
Once Lirian and Prince have entered the conference room, which was giant and had a round white table in the middle, the blond started to look for a familiar face among those who were present there with a huge smile. But once he found that face he was looking for, the smile has disappeared. Ddraig was sitting at the most proximal side of the table, but what made Lirian upset were a girl in a light armor right behind the dark elf, who had her arms around his neck, and couple individuals next to him talking and laughing.
"Well, what have I expected? Of course he has friends and a girlfriend. Why would he even care about me..."
Lirian thought and turned his head away right when Ddraig looked in his direction.
Individuals in the room, once they have noticed that Prince came in, ended all of the side conversations and returned to their seats. Later their eyes moved onto Lirian, who was right next to Prince looking down at the floor. Meanwhile, Prince looked over all of the present individuals in the room and then smiled with his usual devilish smile.
"Good to see all of you here. Let's begin."
But before Prince even was able to say anything else, the dark elf spoke up.
"Why the hell did you bring him to this meeting?" Ddraig asked angrily while looking at Lirian.
"I am really glad that you've asked. That is what I wanted to begin with. Gentlemen!..and Lady," Prince said and looked at the only lady in the room, who was next to dark elf, then continued. "I've found a perfect candidate, who will be able to sneak into castle as one of the guests and gather the information for us without blowing up his cover."
A deep silence hang in the room.
"No," the dark elf said almost instantly breaking the short silence.
"Why not?" another voice replied, which belonged to a human paladin in a gold armor who was sitting right across the dark elf. "The guy would look of a royal blood if dressed appropriately."
"Aye,"
added a dwarf warrior, who couple days ago was actually guiding Lirian to the lab and had a chance to get to know him better. Several other individuals started to nod their heads in approval. Some low-voiced conversations started to arise.
"He will fail right upon the entrance," Ddraig said calmly, ending all of the conversations.
Hearing this from the person, with whom Lirian spent a good amount of time traveling and surviving through hell, offended the blond very much and he could not stay quite.
"Why don't you believe in me? Those people do."
"They do not know what a weak and worthless worm you are."
That sentence literally killed the blond mentally. He was humiliated in front of everyone. Tears rolled to the edges of his eyes. Lirian was always very sensitive to words and expressed his true feelings, so this time was not an exception. But he was not going to cry in front of all the tough men because then he would prove his weakness and disappoint everyone who though that he can do great with a given task. So the blond clenched his fists, approached his "nice" companion, and punched him right in the nose. This helped Lirian to forget about tears by concentrating on fist. A loud crack was heard and dark elf's nose instantly started to bleed. Ddraig did not react to pain from the punch as much as could be expected. A surprised look that was on his face instead stated that he did not expect such move from the restoration mage at all. Lirian also did not expect himself to punch so hard, but he was really proud of himself at the moment. He turned around and proudly walked out of the conference room leaving all of the present people amazed with the show.
"He is definitely what we need," the only girl in the room said with a laugh. In a next moment she regretted her words because the dark elf grabbed her hand without hesitation and sucked part of her life force to heal himself. This unexpected action made the girl scream. The rest of the men started to laugh.

When Lirian cooled down, he felt sick because of what he has done. Having to punch a person whom he adores in front of everyone was really unbearable. Even leaning onto the ice cold wall in a hallway somewhere away from the conference room did not distract him from his self-punishing thoughts because his hand was still in pain after that hard punch. The blond sat down, hugged his legs, and buried the nose in his knees. He did not know how long he was in such state, but it felt like forever.
"This explosive character may destroy me some day," Lirian said sorrowfully to himself in a quiet voice.
Then the blond felt a light touch on the shoulder. This made him hug his legs even more tightly because he was afraid that the person next to him is his angry companion.
"Oh, sweet child. You have not changed at all," someone said in a calm and very soft voice.
Lirian would recognize this voice among millions. He instantly looked up and saw a  man in a long green robe that matched his eyes, who was in his 40's - the professor. Seeing him made Lirian forget about Ddraig as he jumped up and hugged the professor tightly while screaming with happiness. In return, the professor also hugged Lirian and slightly rubbed his back with the palm of the hand.
"Professor Hammond! Oh, holy carrots! How did you...What..." Lirian began talking as soon as he let go of the professor, but could not verbalize any of the questions he wanted to ask because of how fast they were flying through his head.
"Easy-easy," the professor laughed. "There is no need to rush. I will tell you everything that you wish to know. Let's have a walk?"
Lirian calmed down and nodded while smiling as a child. He was truly happy to see his professor, who was his hero since childhood.
As always I really enjoyed writing this chapter of my original story.
I wanted to add more humiliation in this part, but then I felt bad for mage. Maybe I should learn to be treating my characters as George Martin treats his?xD I will think about that x)
